მეორე მსოფლიო ომის დასრულებიდან 76 წელი გავიდა. ფაშიზმზე გამარჯვების დღესთან დაკავშირებით საქართველოს პრემიერ-მინისტრმა ირაკლი ღარიბაშვილმა და თავდაცვის მინისტრმა ჯუანშერ ბურჭულაძემ ვეტერანთა კულტურისა და დასვენების პარკში (კიკვიძის), მელიტონ ქანთარიას ბიუსტი ყვავილებით შეამკეს და მეორე მსოფლიო ომში დაღუპული მეომრების ხსოვნას პატივი მიაგეს. მათ კაცობრიობის ისტორიაში ფაშიზმზე გამარჯვების მნიშვნელობა და ამ ბრძოლაში საქართველოს წვლილი გაიხსენეს. დაღუპულთა ხსოვნას პატივი მიაგეს ასევე საქართველოს თავდაცვის ძალების ხელმძღვანელმა პირებმა და ხელისუფლების სხვა წარმომადგენლებმა.

 

 

1941-1945 წლების დიდ სამამულო ომს 300 ათასი ქართველის სიცოცხლე შეეწირა. 1945 წლის 8 მაისს გერმანიის მიერ კაპიტულაციის გამოცხადების შემდეგ მეორე მსოფლიო ომი დასრულდა, 9 მაისი კი, ფაშიზმზე გამარჯვების დღედ გამოცხადდა.
